The Evidence
Standing versus Gravity
We tend to take gravity for granted in our daily lives, but astronauts on the International Space Station (ISS) certainly don’t. Through some interesting experiments conducted on the ISS, we’ve learned quite a bit about the effects of gravity on the brain and other bodily systems. You can read about some interesting experiments here.

This website is a must-see for anyone interested in natural art and gravity. Artist Michael Grab has mastered the art of stone balancing and his resulting artwork is nothing short of stunning! You can read more about his work and see lots of photos and some videos here.
Read MoreEarth’s Gravity Is So Powerful That It’s Deforming The Moon
Here’s a link to an interesting article in the Huffington Post Science section discussing how Earth’s gravity (or more accurately, mass) is deforming the moon. There’s a bit of a tug-of-war going on!
Read MoreHow does gravity make things fall?
Most of us are familiar with the “ball-on-the-rubber-sheet” explaination of how mass distorts space-time, but this short video shows another method for demonstrating the effect of mass. It’s quite clear! Now as to the question of how all this happens, well that’s another, much deeper and as yet unaswered question!

What exactly is “zero gravity”? Is there really a place that has no gravity whatsoever? This short article discusses some of the misleading semantics behind the facts. Zero Gravity: It May Note Be What You Think!

Here’s an interesting article reported in the BBC Science & Environment blog. A recent study out of Czechoslovakia shows how gravity influences the formation of natural sandstone arches. It’s a pretty interesting read!
Read MoreYou Can’t Steer a Bike in Zero Gravity, Even If The Road’s Magnetic
You know how, to steer a bicycle, you start your turn by leaning in the direction you want to go? Well, it turns out that steeing a bike in zero gravity is almost impossible! Researchers at Cornell University created a “brike” that replicates the effects of zero-g on a bike. Check out this article in…
Read MoreGravity Saved the Universe from Collapse After the Big Bang
Gravity saved the universe from collapse after the Big Bang, say some scientists. Immediately following its creation, the universe should have crumpled in on itself and disappeared according to particle physics, but, it is still here, and gravity may be the reason why. Read MoreIs gravity the force driving time forwards?
A paper was recently published in Physical Review Letters last October, by Flavio Mercati at the Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics in Waterloo, Canada, and his colleagues. The paper, entitled “Identification of a Gravitational Arrow of Time,” argues that to understand the arrow of time, we don’t need to worry about the initial conditions of the…
Read MoreGravity and our Solar System’s Galactic Vortex Rotation
Gravity is not easily understood with the rational mind. While we have known about gravity and have created equations to measure it, for hundreds of years now, we have only just begun to understand how it works on a larger scale in our solar system and galaxy. On this macro level we, here on Earth…
