What is the Gravity Rules Project? Our Perspective...
The Gravity Rules Project is a world view based on seven rules of gravity, for those who seek to live more effective lives through developing their skills of responsibility and compassion.
We—and every living creature and inanimate object—live in a constant relationship to our planet's gravitational pull. Earth's gravity is pervasive and controls everything with the exact same force, yet we don’t tend to pay much attention to it. We go through our day seemingly unaware that this force is constantly working on us. We believe that it is the pervasive and controlling nature of gravity that makes it so important. It is the glue that not only keeps the moon in its orbit around the earth, but that holds everything together in an arc of commonality and inclusiveness.
We offer the seven Gravity Rules as tools to help us become more aware of gravity—to allow us to think about gravity in a new light, and, by extension, to permit us to experience a broader perspective and understanding of how the world functions and what our place is in it. We think that this kind of understanding can contribute to social justice. If we can begin to understand how gravity effects us all, then we can begin to discuss our differences from a solid foundation of commonality, one free of the divisive barriers that politics, religion, tribalism, and nationalism have thrown up over the centuries of human thought. As our world fills up with people, and we face the existential challenges of diminishing resources, pollution, and climate change on a global scale, we need a way to respond that can insure the survival of our species and the long term health of the planet that shelters us. We think that gravity holds the key.
The purpose, then, of the Gravity Rules Project is to engage with a community of people interested in gaining a broader perspective of the human experience. It’s not about creating a new religion or replacing one form of dogma with another. It’s about growing together intellectually and emotionally so that we can become agents of beneficial change to our species and the planet. We are dedicated to freeing the human mind through the eradication of dogma, orthodoxy and ideology. We’re devoted to free thought, learning, and a clear-eyed understanding of the world around us, its people, and the universe in general. We don't pretend to have all of the "answers" but we're very much interested in engaging you in the conversation. We sincerely hope that you will join us!
About the Website:
This website is and will always be a work in progress. As the community grows and evolves, we'll no doubt make changes. We've divided the site into four sequential sections that we feel build upon each other:
"The Rules” — these form the structure behind our Perspective;
“Evidence” — where we'll blog about the scientific and cultural evidence that corroborates the Rules;
"Living It” — here's where we'll explore our evolving understanding of our relationship with gravity and talk about how we're implementing that understanding in the real world to become agents of healing change.
We hope that you will find this discussion engaging, and, more importantly, that you’ll contribute to the discussion by commenting on the Rules and on our various blog posts.
Sincerely,
Lee Minkler
Founder of the Gravity Rules Project
Please Join the Conversation
At the heart of the Gravity Rules Project is our desire to have a conversation with you. We’ve set up this website in the hope that you might join in the conversation by commenting on the Rules and the posts we make on the two blog pages—“Evidence” and “Living It". Though these comments will be moderated, we welcome any considered, thoughtful comments. We’re not afraid of criticism or challenges to our point of view, but we’re not interested in rants or trolling.

Why Gravity Rules is Important for Me
Author: Tasha Harrison Friday, May 16, 2014 The gravity rules encourage us to think about and question everything. Gravity is a constant, its unchangeable and it forms a valuable contrast to the rules by which we live, which are constructed or engineered. As humans we come together and decide on how we are going to…

We tend to take gravity for granted in our daily lives, but astronauts on the International Space Station (ISS) certainly don’t. Through some interesting experiments conducted on the ISS, we’ve learned quite a bit about the effects of gravity on the brain and other bodily systems. You can read about some interesting experiments here.

Most of us are familiar with the “ball-on-the-rubber-sheet” explaination of how mass distorts space-time, but this short video shows another method for demonstrating the effect of mass.
